The Kindness Guy
May 17-19th Kindness Weekend
It's The Be Kind Fest! The festival brings back some of the most successful features of the 2011 event and adds some very exciting new and bigger events!  Mark your calendars and "Like" us on Facebook to stay in touch.
The Mount Washington Valley is fast becoming the Kindness Capital of New England!  That’s great news, because according to The Kindness Center, kindness is the secret to happiness. This year, the weekend BEFORE Memorial Day weekend, (Victoria Day in Canada), locals and visitors alike will be soaking up the kindness message as well as inflicting random acts of kindness on our community.

Candlelit Gratitude Labyrinth

Picture
After hearing Michael’s lecture, many people want to find a place to reflect and to initiate  change in their life. Friday evening (following the lecture), in Schouler Park, the public is invited to reflect on, and release aspects of their lives that may be causing pain, anxiety, or suffering of any kind. This year, the emphasis is on the power of expressing gratitude in both large and small ways fro our many blessings.

The Dean Machine to Open Free Concert

Picture
This rugged power trio plays a wide variety of covers from blues standards by Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimmy Hendrix, to 70's and 80's dance hits from AC/DC, Tommy Tutone, and ZZ Top. Their eclectic playlist allows them to entertain a diverse crowd, and comfortably play rooms large and small.
The Dean Machine is a regular around the valley, seen at The Red Parka Pub and Steakhouse, McGrath's Tavern, The Wolverine, Hillbillies, The Cave,  and other entertainment hot spots.

Butterfly Release

Picture
Honor and remember loved ones with a butterfly in our first hospice fundraiser butterfly release. Click here to find the order form, so you can participate in this beautiful ceremony with your own butterfly.
This inter-faith event will feature elegant music, thoughtful readings and of course butterflies.
The butterfly's dark body represents grief. Emerging from its cocoon reflects courage. Its delicate pattern symbolizes memories. And its bright colors
represent love
.

Kindness at Kennett High School
Thanks to Settler's Green Outlet Village, MWV Kiwanis and Old Navy for sponsoring Michael Chase to speak at Kennet this year! Watch the video or support the effort here. Michael (The Kindness Guy) spoke in 2010 at three separate presentations to all our local students, grades 8-12. Michael returned to Kennett in April, 2013 to present to all our local 9th -12th graders.

Festival at a Glance

Picture
ALL EVENTS ARE FREE!  Hoever, the Festival is supported in part by the sale of wrist bands for only $10 each, available in advance or at the event while supplies last, getting you discounts at area shops and restaurants for showing your support. The weekend begins Friday evening with a free keynote lecture (for adults and mature youths, maybe 12 years and up) by returning best selling author and speaker Michael J. Chase, founder of The Kindness Center. Michael has a brand new book out this year to share as well! After the lecture at Kennett's Loynd Auditorium, we'll gather under The Kindness Tent in Schouler Park for Good Vibes Coffee and hugs and enjoy the Candlelit Labyrinth sponsored by I am Grateful to You.
Saturday morning, gather in N. Conway Village for inspiration and collect the tools of the kindness trade before fanning out to the community to commit all sorts of kindness on unsuspecting strangers. So don’t be surprised if a stranger hands you a smiley face balloon, pumps your gas or pays for your coffee while you’re standing in line.
Participants will come back with amazing stories as the result of the simplest acts. We’ll gather at noon under the tent to hear some of the morning’s stories. Flatbread Co. pizza and Kennett High Culinary Team veggie wraps will be available for donations. Throughout the day, the labyrinth will be open, and we'll enjoy free massages, free blood pressure screenings by the visiting nurses, a 50 foot canvas of kind art, free crafts for the kids with The Artery, hugs from the White Mountain Community Health Center Teen Clinic, and more kind fun in the park. At 11am Saturday, join a free, special presentation about life in the alpine zone - created just for this festival, at MW Observatory Weather Discovery Center.
From 10am-2pm, there will be many events going on in the park from adoptable animals, to music, to yoga - please see the full event schedule. Also from 10am - 2pm Saturday, the White Mountain Waldorf School is running their amazing annual May Faire event next door at the N. Conway Community Center!
Saturday afternoon, enjoy a very fun and motivational presentation by Nancy Sporborg & Pat Piper, authors of "It's Not About the Hike".
Saturday evening will begin with an inter-faith service and a Butterfly Release as a service of our local hospice nurses. Saturday evening will close with a live concert in the park featuring Motor Booty Affair sponsored by Mount Washington Radio Group.
Sunday Morning, join Herbalist Heather Chase on an educational and really interesting walk from The Local Grocer, into the woods and fields to identiy edible and healing plants we can find everyday. Then, it's off to Cranmore Mountain Resort for a FREE fun day on the Mountain Coaster, Giant Swing and Soaring Eagle Zip Line from 10am-4pm! More arts events happening every day in Jackson at the Jackson Art Studio and Gallery - see their poster for details.

Thank you to our Flagship Sponsor!
